Bextra Heart Attack

Bextra heart attack risks have been raised following the recent recall of Cox-2 Inhibitor. Bextra is another cox-2 inhibitor, in the same drug group as Vioxx. The reason that Vioxx was recalled from the US market in September 2004 was that studies showed that the drug increased the risks of both heart attacks and strokes. Many patients have expressed concerns and worries over the possibility that Bextra could harbour the same risks, spawning fresh controversy over Bextra and other cox-2 inhibitors.

A recent American Heart Association meeting focused on the possibility of Bextra heart attacks as well as the possibility of strokes. It was revealed in a study discussed at the meeting that Bextra heart attacks were a possibility, and that patients that were on Bextra and had heart surgery were at increased risk. Pfizer, the manufacturer of Bextra, has stated that at present there is no substantiated evidence to link Bextra to heart attacks and strokes. However, the company has also stated that it will be carrying out long term studies and investigations to explore the possibilities of Bextra heart attacks.

In addition to Pfizer's promise to conduct thorough investigations in the possibility of Bextra heart attacks and the risks of strokes caused by Bextra, the Food and Drugs Administration has also stated that it will be looking more closely at Bextra heart attack possibilities. The FDA has issued a recall effective April 7, 2005 for Bextra.

Any heart problems that may be a result of taking Bextra should be reported to your health care provider. Medics advise patients to look out for signs of heart problems, such as chest pains, breathing difficulties, fatigue, persistent coughing, and changes in appetite. In addition to looking out for Bextra heart attack symptoms, Bextra patients are also urged to remain vigilant for any sings of stroke. Stroke symptoms may include: confusion, disorientation, coordination problems, blurry vision, speech problems, weakness, and numbness along one side of the body.

Patients that are taking Bextra or another Cox-2 inhibitor – and those that have taken these drugs in the past – should seek medical assistance immediately should any of these symptoms present themselves. It is important to discuss any concerns and any signs of Bextra hear problems and other side effects with your doctor as soon as possible. This will enable your doctor to run any necessary tests, and also to discuss an alternative medication if required.

In addition to this, anyone that has suffered from what could be deemed a Bextra heart attack or stroke should also seek immediate legal advice. If you have suffered these ill effects and there is a possibility that they were related to Bextra you could be entitled to compensation. Even if you are unsure as to whether you have grounds to file a claim, you should still contact a lawyer as he or she will be able to offer invaluable advice with regards to whether you can file a Bextra lawsuit for harm and injury caused by the drug. Contact the Montgomery Law Firm today for a free consultation regarding Bextra heart attack's, stroke, or SJS.

It is best to contact a drug litigation lawyer who is more likely to be experienced in the field of Bextra lawsuits. Your lawyer can put together a solid case from the facts that you provide, thus further improving your chances of a successful claim against the drug's manufacturer, Pfizer.
